Desired State
ConceptStep 1: Identify
Definition
The target condition of a process that the improvement effort aims to achieve.
The Desired State is the second component of a PIPS problem statement. It describes what the process should look like after improvement, expressed in the same measurable terms as the As-Is State. The gap between As-Is and Desired State defines the scope of the improvement effort. The Desired State should be ambitious but achievable within the team's sphere of influence.
