As-Is State
Definition
The current condition of a process before any improvement is applied.
The As-Is State is a factual, measurable description of how a process currently operates. It forms the first part of a PIPS problem statement and establishes the baseline against which improvement will be measured. The As-Is State should be expressed in observable terms — numbers, frequencies, durations — not opinions or blame.
