Brainwriting (6-3-5)
Definition
A silent, written alternative to brainstorming where 6 people write 3 ideas in 5 minutes, then pass and build.
Brainwriting 6-3-5 is a structured idea generation method used in Step 3 (Generate). Six participants each write 3 ideas in 5 minutes, then pass their sheet to the next person who builds on those ideas. After 6 rounds, the group can generate up to 108 ideas in 30 minutes. It is especially effective for introverted team members and groups with power dynamics that suppress candid input.
