Brainstorming
Definition
A group idea generation technique where judgment is deferred to maximize creative output.
Brainstorming is a Step 3 (Generate) technique where team members freely propose solutions without criticism or evaluation. The ground rules are: no criticism, quantity over quality, build on others' ideas, and wild ideas are welcome. The goal is to generate as many ideas as possible before any filtering occurs. Brainstorming follows the "Expand Then Contract" principle.
