Check Sheet
ToolStep 2: Analyze
Definition
A structured tally form for collecting data by category over time periods.
A Check Sheet is a Step 2 (Analyze) data collection tool. Rows represent categories (types of defects, errors, or events) and columns represent time periods. Tally marks are recorded each time an event occurs. The completed sheet reveals patterns: which categories are most common, whether there are time-based trends, and where to focus further investigation.
